How to Install a Windshield Banner

If you've purchased a windshield banner or if you are trying to decide if you can install a banner yourself than you've found the right place.  This article will guide you through the basic steps needed to perform a correct installation of a windshield banner. To ensure a proper install please read this article at least once before attempting to install your banner.  An install should take about 15 to 20 minutes to complete and should be done indoors or a place with minimal wind, with that said let's get started.

Items needed

Before you start the installation make sure you have the following items available:

• Spray bottle
• Dishwashing or hand soap
• Low friction squeege
• Lint free paper towels

Once you have this simple list of items gathered together, the next step is to prepare the vehicle

Vehicle Preparation

It's best to have just washed the vehicle as any dirt, wax, or debris will be detrimental to the quality of the finished install.

1. Wash the outside of the windshield with soapy water at least two times to ensure all dirt is removed
2. Clean around the trim and surrounding panels
3. Wipe everything dry with a lint free paper towel

Banner Installation

With the vehicle prepared we are now ready to continue with the install. 

1. Spray on a thin film of soapy water to the top of the windshield
2. Remove the backing of the banner and dispose of the backing
3. Quickly place the banner on the windshield with the sticky side down
4. Reposition the banner until it's lined up in the correct position, leave a 1/16' (3mm) gap away from the trim
5. Starting at the top center edge of the banner, push the soapy water out with the squeege
6. Gradually work out to the sides, squeeging the excess water and bubbles out as you go
7. When it's all flat against, run the lint free paper towls along the edge of the banner to clean up any left over solution
